Can We Filter Water Using A Number Of Substances?

On Friday in science we had to do some work on our SciPad we are now learning about mixtures and how to separate them. We had to draw a diagram of our experiment we did which was filtering dirty water. But before that we had to do a page about solutions and write our definition of each word on the page. Then our teacher instructed us on how to preform our experiment , then we did it ourselves. Here is our write up.

Aim: Can we filter water using a number of substances?

Equipment:

Conical Flask

Beaker

Filter Paper

Funnel

Saw Dust 

Cotton Balls

Rocks

Dirty Water

Method:

Grab a conical flask a put a funnel on top of it, pour a little rocks to half way into the opening of the funnel. After that pour dirty water into the funnel and wash the funnel and pour the filtered water from the conical flask into another beaker and repeat for sawdust, cotton balls and filter paper. The water should be more clear this method does not cleanse the water properly so try and make a homemade water bottle filter. Like This then boil it so the bacteria goes away.
