Year 10 Art Relection

Art Reflection Semester 2

LO: To work with a repeated stencil image to create a multi coloured painting

My stencil subject is a mushroom off the game Mario, I don't really know what I am doing. I added texture to the painting by using different tools such as sponges, paintbrushes and techniques like dabbing or patting. The repeated placement of my stencil doesn't really create any focal points or leading lines and it a bit everywhere but using different mixes of colours for the repeating stencil changed the meaning of the image. Repeating the stencil changes the meaning of the stencil as it creates no main idea onto my piece.

Questions

Is the meaning of your stencil changed by the way you paint it?  repeating the stencil shape?

What is the subject matter of your stencil? A Mickey Mouse? Gumboots? Kowhaiwhai?

What kind of texture does your painting have? Were you able to control this effect?

Does the repeated placement of your stencil create any focal points or leading lines?

  1. Kia Ora Lorelei, Your painting reminds me of outer space. Trying different techniques and placing these across a surface is doing something! Repeating something is usually a way to emphasize it. Your stencil does this, I think. You have repeated the mushroom to create different focal points and balance between shapes and textures of paint. Planning as you go and reacting to what happens when you make a shape or mark is one of the many ways of creating something. Did you enjoy this way of working?
