Week 3, Bacteria & Hygiene - HEC

Bacteria & Hygiene
1. 
a. What is the difference between hygiene & personal safety?
a. personal safety is you're own safety and making sure everyone around you is safe. Hygiene is making sure that you are clean and aware of the bacteria you could spread around food.
b. How would have you demonstrated in the practicals you have done so far?
b. Before I enter the room I would have tied my hair up in a bun & taken anything that would hung over food, in this case my cardigan.Then when I do enter I would have thrown on a apron and washed my hands thoroughly making sure no dirt is in between my fingernails. Then after that I would have sanitized my working table with a damp cloth And throughout the lesson I would have followed the directions carefully and been aware of hazards and people.
2. Watch Bacteria Video, then include in today's blog with the following questions.
a. What is Bacteria?
a. Bacteria is a group of cells that can sometimes lead to you getting ill or feeling sick.
b. What does bacteria need to survive?
b. Bacteria needs food source/energy, moisture, oxygen and time to grow and survive.
c. Give 3 examples of how we can avoid spreading bacteria.
c. Washing your hands and fingernails, Having a clean working surface and being in a clean environment helps avoid spreading bacteria.
d. What does the term "cross contamination" mean and how does it effect you?
d. Cross Contamination means that if say raw chicken and vegetables touch each other and you eat the vegetables it could lead to you feeling sick and ill.(salmonella)
