Today in socials Studies we learnt about the songs that slaves sung as they work from dawn till dusk and how they may be able to escape through songs. I now know that spirituals are rhythmic the slaves sung in the fields and helped the slaves stay in rhythm and be able to keep doing their work. Some songs like Swing Low, Sweet Chariot, would notify others if they ever see a chance of escape. They would shout unexpectedly "Swing Low, Sweet Chariot".
