DTE Project Reflection

This term we’ve been working on a big project that involves a digital robot called “Sphero”. Sphero is a Bluetooth device that can be controlled when connected to an Ipad (similar to a Remote Control race car). With this project we decided to design a spooky maze filled with obstacles for the robot to go through.

Our original idea for our project was to make a cardboard maze and use play-doh and crafts to make different obstacles for the sphero. We soon found out that this would take up a lot of time and materials that we don’t have, instead we drew up a basic path for the Sphero to go through. We still will have obstacles like snakes, sharks and lava but we would have to draw them. We decided to have one straight path instead of dead ends as they would take up more time than we have. Our final product did not get finished but still includes obstacles such as; snakes, a pool of sharks and additional, clowns, slime, Trypophobia and a Among Us themed level.

One thing I know we could have done better is spending time on coding our Sphero and asking help when we needed it. This was definitely the part we struggled with the most. It was difficult to produce a code for the robot to go through and didn't get an outcome to our coding. I think if we would have asked we all would be more confident in our final outcome.

The first few pictures are what we had in mind and our inspiration.

Here is our final outcome I am pretty pleased with it but I know we could have done better.
