Work From Home Research: Steve McCurry

For our work from home days on Thursday and Friday we got set a task to research and critique a photographers artwork. I chose to do "Steve McCurry".

Steve McCurry is an American photographer who focuses on different culture and traditions.

Here is one of Steve McCurry's most well known portraits. "Afghan Girl" This photo was taken in 1984. This portrait is a girl who was only 10 years old at a refugee camp near Peshawar, Pakistan.
In my opinion I think that this portrait says a lot of different things. Personally I can not read the emotion in this photograph. I love the colour and quality of this photo, the expression says a lot about the situation this person might be in.

I love how this artist can capture different emotions and stories in each portrait he takes. This research taught me that there is a bigger story behind a picture and how emotion/ expression can affect a photos meaning.
